The Bragge Family Tree

THE BRAGGE FAMILY TREE

Nigel Bragge
Born: December 6th, 1961
Place of Birth: Bulawayo, Zimbabwe

Today with the beating drums of technology, we are fortunate to have so many tools at our disposal to access information. We have the ability to buy, sell. research creates and communicates within a heartbeat to people all over the world through the use of the Internet.
I had a desire to research my family tree and what started out as a simple request back in 2010, has now turned into one of my passions. I learned a long time ago, if you are going to wait upon others to do something, then you will wait forever. I have also learned that discovering your family tree is not an obsession for everyone. But I believe it is important to keep this information for generations to come. Today we face a generation that is now coming to the end of their life and another who is starting out not knowing anything of their past.

As the author, I will endeavor to provide as much information as I can together with documentation and photographs.

When you review the above information the earliest record dates back to 1400. A will for Thomas Johannis Bragg ( 16X ) 1440 -1490 is on file detailing his heirs. The local parish began keeping records of births and deaths. Our family originated from a small hamlet called Sandford in Devon. Early records tell us that our family was yeoman, farmers living off the land.  Our story begins with John Bragg ( 5X ) Great Grandfather as we piece together our rich heritage.

There are many ways to the spelling of our surname. Many times the information recorded in the local parish would have been at the discretion of the local pastor, who would have been the only person to have received an education to read and write. He would have spelled the name as he heard it coming out of the mouth of our descendants.
